ART EXHIBITION

22nd April 2010

Sheffield Hallam Christian Union are putting on an art competition focused on the concept of freedom. The goal of your artistic entry should be to tackle the issues surrounding freedom (or lack off) in a personal, national or global context as embodied by the competition’s title:

"Free"

Artists are asked to produce an original piece of art on a canvas no larger than A3 (or equivalent) that can be hung at the venue on the night of the event.

There are no restrictions on style/technique.

The artwork will be judged by 3 guest judges who will focus on criteria, such as how the theme has been used within the work, and how the piece looks aesthetically. Further information on criteria can be e-mailed upon request.

Alongside the prize money offered digital photos off all the artwork can be uploaded onto a virtual gallery, which can be linked to and used as part of a portfolio.

For any more information regarding the event, and the virtual gallery, please e-mail: cu.secretary@hotmail.co.uk

You can also see the event on our Facebook page.

22nd March 2010

Time for a Story... (and cake of course!)

The Bible is a story, so we're going to read it like one.

We're going to be reading Mark's gospel: together, out loud and all in one go.

It's amazing how much you notice when reading the whole thing as opposed to just small sections. You can let the full weight of the story itself impact you, and have a little go at joining in and reading yourself! It will probably only take a couple of hours to do too.

As you may have seen from the title, there will also be cake.

Join us in room 2 of the multifaith chaplaincy on Monday 22nd March at 2pm.
